Vintage Locks

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

Open the pages of most fashion magazines this week and there will be highlights of the A-list hot frocks from the recent red carpet Met Ball in memory of and in tribute to the late Alexander McQueen.

While we were very interested in the celebs choice of shoes, we also loved this page we pulled from Look Magazine with some of the delciously vintage inspired hair-dos – add a touch of the silver screen glamour to the occasion don’t they!

A Knightley Occurrence

OK we admit it, we have the occasional celebrity crush and who would blame us? Picked up a copy of GQ (for a change) this week and came across the simply stunning Keira Knightley in the most amazing beaded dress!

We couldn’t help but imagine which shoes she would choose from our collections to create the perfect finishing touch to her outfit.

Perhaps something very classic and simple like Elena with one of our shoe clips?

Saturday, January 8th, 2011

Hopefully you will have caught our blog a couple of days ago when we featured the gorgeous HT Headwear and some of their fabulour headpieces.   And whilst we are normally looking down and concentrating on footwear, we can’t help but get a little giddy with desire at the new trend towards having something beautiful at the top of your head as well as on the soles of your feet.

Whilst flicking through the pages of one of our fave reads (yes, that’s you Heat Magazine!) – we came across this selection of just a few vintage inspired desirables for your ‘do’ – ah swoon!

Choose the Perfect Shoe – 4

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

And to our final part of our mini blog series on choosing the perfect shoe for your wedding day.

After the big day – beautiful shoes deserve to be worn so if you love them, wear them again! Ivory and white shoes can look great in the summer with a pair of jeans, or if they’re truly bridal why not dye them a fab new colour, or black for glamorous evening wear?

Marilyn Mink side low resMarilyn Teal side low resIf you do want to keep your shoes as a memento why not have them framed, either on their own or with other items like your jewellery, invite or flowers. This looks fab and makes a chic artwork of your day. Alternatively you could buy a keepsake box to safely store your mementoes and add a stylish touch to your room.

Protection of your perfect shoes is vital, especially if you want to be able to use them again and again after the big day.  We want you to be able to enjoy your shoes whatever the weather and if you are getting married in this country, you need to be prepared even in the summer!

Isabella pair low resIf your shoes are satin or suede like our chic kitten heel Isabella, it’s a good idea to use a protector spray before the big day. Check with the manufacturer or take them to your local shoe menders so they can recommend a suitable product.

Violet side low resRemember they can be hard to clean though, so try and avoid the rain if possible but don’t let it ruin your day! Go for leather like our gorgeous Violet if you don’t want the risk..

Choose the Perfect Shoe – 2

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Comfort is key when choosing the perfect shoe for your big day. Welcome to part two of our mini blog series.

Remember you’re going to be on your feet all day, so make sure you’re comfortable in your shoes. This doesn’t just mean low heels- if you’re a heels girl don’t compromise on your usual style, Venetia has the secret to comfort in a killer heel with her concealed platform, making the shoe look higher than it is!

Venetia detail low resGo for leather linings that allow your feet to breathe- sweaty feet are a real no no! It’s a good idea to wear your shoes around the house a bit to get used to them and wear them in to suit your feet. It’s worth having a pair of party feet on hand just in case..

Get organised in time for your final fitting (if not before!), as your seamstress will need to know the exact height of your shoes so she can fit your dress accordingly. Once you have a pair in mind check with the company how long it will take for delivery and pre-order if necessary to avoid any last minute disappointment!
