White Closet exterior
We’re super lucky to have some amazing stockists across the UK so we thought we’d share some with you! Quirky vintage-inspired bridal boutique The White Closet, in the heart of West Didsbury Manchester opened it’s doors in November and has been inundated ever since. Hardly surprising with a pot of tea, cupcakes and fantastic friendly service all on offer..

Nikki Jackson, a former journalist and creator of The White Closet was inspired to set up her fantastic boutique after she started to shop for her own wedding dress in the Manchester area and struggled to find something that she loved. The West Didsbury boutique, based in Manchester’s boho district, is aimed at arty and creative brides who are after something that little bit different. All the dresses chosen by The White Closet have a vintage edge to them, from a glamourous ’50s inspired dress (Lyn Ashworth) to a slinky Art Deco number (Claire Pettibone), covering most eras in between and beyond..

As well as our beautiful shoes, the boutique also stocks accessories by Flo & Percy and Rosie Willett. Its dress designers include David Fielden, Lyn Ashworth, Claire Pettibone, Charlotte Balbier, Kula Tsurdiu and Lee Klabin.

The boutique has some fab events coming up- look out for Kula Tsurdiu at the boutique on the 29th and 30th of this month as well as a Claire Pettibone Designer Weekend from 5th-7th March. Why not contact them via their gorgeous website for more details..how could any bride-to-be resist?!

Tell us a bit about your company, who you are, where you started out etc
Oh my…I hate writing about myself! I was born in Hong Kong and raised in Darlington, Co Durham. After studying a Fashion Promotion degree for 4 years, I got a taste for photography. Having worked in retail for a while, I now specialise in wedding photography and also do a lot of still life shots for jewellery, accessories and beauty products.

How did you get into the industry?
My interest in wedding photography came after I was asked to do one of my best friends wedding a few years ago. I loved being a fly on the wall…and it was amazing to be able to capture her special day through my lens. She loved what I did as she felt the pictures I took, told a story of how her day unfolded!

Pretty soon I was photographing more and more weddings…and I loved doing each one of them!

Which peer from your industry inspires you and why?
I am inspired by many things, including artists, fashion designers, architecture and photographers.

Celebrity clients, anyone we know? Who uses your services or who would you love to see at one of your shoots?
Unfortunately I haven’t photographed any celebrities as yet! Most of my clients are brides, but recently I have started to do Glamour and Boudoir photography.

What are you looking forward to for the rest of the year? Launches, travel, shows, exhibitions?
I am currently in the process of planning a Charity Wedding Event. It’s not just another wedding fayre, but a Wedding Soiree. Brides and Grooms-to-be can enjoy a Bellini reception, array of supplier delights and an amazing fashion, dance and music performance.
I know how mundane wedding fayres are and I wanted to organise something that will be fun, creative and visually pleasing!
The first one is being held on Sunday 28th February at Jewel Piccadilly, London. For more information about the event or to book tickets you can visit the website .

Describe your personal photography style
I offer a fun, non-traditional approach to my photography and I like to put my clients at ease. I am very passionate about taking pictures and I have an eye for detail with an artistic flair.

What is your biggest fashion faux pas?
My biggest fashion faux pas was when I was 14/15 years old…I had these stripy green leggings and thought they were the best thing. I look back at pics of me wearing these and cringe at the sight of them!

Think back to your first ‘shoe’ purchase when you were younger, describe them please
When I was 11 years old I always remember I wanted to be like those girls you see in fashion magazines. I suppose it’s every girl’s dreams. One day my mum took my twin sister and me shopping and I fell in love with these bright yellow shoes with a 2inch heel. I knew then I wanted them! I begged my mum to buy them and wouldn’t give in till she gave in. Being a twin, it meant my sister got a pair too. Her pair was in orange!

What is your favourite pair of Rachel Simpson shoes?
I love Lilly…they are a perfect addition to the wedding dress. I used these for my fashion shoot and it complimented the dress beautifully.

Describe Rachel Simpson Shoes in three words
Chic, Desirable and Sexy.

Thanks Lai-Ha, we love love the photos, absolutely stunning!

Treat your Feet!

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

beautiful feet and hands
Women spend a disproportionate amount of time on their feet every day and it’s probably the last bit of the body that gets any attention. You cleanse, tone and moisturise your faces religiously but when was the last time you soaked your feet, painted your toe nails or treated yourself to a pedicure?

Rachel Simpson Shoes promotes healthy, happy feet and we undertake a lot of research when designing and manufacturing our shoes so that your feet feel comfortable, yet sexy and truly loved!

So as well as wearing the perfect shoe, we’ve come up with some fun and inexpensive ways to treat your feet this January, especially after all that sale shopping and New Year’s resolution jogging you’ve been doing!

• Make your own foot scrub. Simply mix some sea salt or sugar with oil and then add your favourite essential oil – perhaps lavender to relax aching feet or a drop of peppermint to revitalise tired toes!

• Have an hour’s reflexology treatment, which also has healing effects on the rest of your body and if nothing else, a fabulous foot massage concentrating on all your pressure points. Better still take an evening course and then you and your partner can perform a foot pampering session every night!

• Make use of that foot spa Christmas pressie you got this year and add some marbles to the bottom of the bowl for added pressure on your aching pads – bliss!

• And if all else fails…give your toe nails a quick dash of varnish in a vibrant red or luscious pink to bring your feet to life!

And once those feet are happy feet once more, take a look at our gorgeous vintage-inspired shoes to show them how you really care. How about a peep-toe to show off your new nails – meet Coco, Mimi and Lilly.
