Rachel Simpson Shoes loves to tell you about some of our friends that we make along the way. We came across Corina Corina, a fabulous vintage dress agency in Warwick and asked them a few questions, her’s what they had to say…

Ella Miles, owner of Corina Corina
Corina Corina is a vintage and pre-loved designer dress agency in Warwick, where our customers can buy, sell or hire! We launched in the summer of 2009 with our core business of vintage and nearly new designer wear, and we have already had such a great response we’ve been able to launch our diffusion ranges of Reworked Vintage and Made to measure 1940’s reproduction garments.
How did you get into the industry?
I’m a typical recession buster story! Having worked in corporate marketing for 14 years I grabbed the chance of a redundancy package in Feb ’09 in order to start my own business, I’ve always bought and loved second-hand and vintage clothes, and in a way the recession seemed a perfect time to start a business where people can buy smartly, earn cash from their own wardrobes and recycle!
What’s your best seller?
Evening wear is really popular, and now summers on its way everyone is looking for wedding outfits, they are usually virtually unworn too because they are the type of outfit that is only ever worn once or twice! What a waste! So this is a great way to get hold of something a little unique, without laying out a fortune for one occasion, as well as being environmentally friendly. Good quality day wear always goes well and investment handbags never go out of fashion.
Which designer from your industry inspires you and why?
I love Vivienne Westwood, I love her eccentricity and the fact that she’s succeeded just doing what she loves and not trying to force or follow trends; I’m an absolute sucker for prints too and so anything with Celia Birtwell’s touch has my approval.
Celebrity shoppers, anyone we know?
Well considering we’ve been here less than a year we’re not doing badly for a touch of celeb magic, the actress Jane Gurnett (currently on stage in Mamma Mia) pops in now and again for a coffee and huge trying on session, she’s given us the loveliest testimonial for our window too! We’re also making singer songwriter Thea Gilmore a bespoke Reworked Vintage outfit for her forthcoming gig at the Assembly Rooms Leamington, and we were thrilled to bits when we sold a fantastic vintage Gina Frattini dress via our on-line shop to Lily Allen!!
What are you looking forward to for the rest of the year? Product launches, travel, shows, exhibitions?
Well it will be Corina Corina’s 1st birthday at the end of June and we don’t need much of an excuse to get the pink champagne out here! Last summer we had some great fun with various charity fashion shows so we’ll be doing more of those but with a little bit more experience this year, and I’m constantly planning incentives and events for my customers, everything from personal styling to dress up parties to vintage tea parties!
Describe your personal fashion style
I love dressing up for a special occasion or a night out, but my every day style is relaxed, kind of quirky classic I guess, and although I love a touch of designer I like to be individual too so lots of my wardrobe pieces are made or found!
What is your biggest fashion faux pas?
Oh gosh, probably something from the 80’s! Although during my early working life I did spend a small fortune on a suit which was probably better on someone twice my age, trying to look professional I probably aged myself 20 years so yes, that could be it!
Think back to your first ‘shoe’ purchase when you were younger, describe them please
That so easy! I can remember shoes better than teachers from that time! When I was teeny my shoes had to be ‘red and loud’, apparently I used to have to stomp around in them in the shop to make sure they were loud enough before a purchase could me made! When I was finally allowed to buy my own shoes my Dad took one look at my beautiful patent red (never grew out of that one) T-bar winkle-pickers and said ‘You may as well have wrapped the notes around your feet!’ I LOVED those shoes! Haha!
What is your favourite pair of Rachel Simpson shoes?
My all time favourites are ‘Lilly’, beautiful, classic with a little twist, and I can’t resist anything with a bit of lace. And I can’t help but swoon over the new Pearl collection, the Monique shoe boot is to die for!
