Sale Away!

Carmen lowIf there was such a thing as a good way to be stressed, it has to be drowning under a mountain of shoes! That’s how we feel here at Rachel Simpson Shoes HQ, with the masses and masses of orders that have been coming in for our brand new Pearl collection…thank you, we love them too! And for the last few designs in our massive shoe clearance.

With some of our girls at prices as low as £30, we knew we were going to be busy, but we can’t thank you enough for your obvious adoration at some of our Rachel Simpson classics.

Perla 129 lowSo instead of just treating yourself to a pair of Perla or Coco, why not get them in the other colour too!

We’re happy to say goodbye to a few of our old favourites to make way for the stunning new Pearl collection and thank you again for those of you that pre-ordered and are now the owner of some beautiful shoes.

NOIR- Sabine lowAnd if that’s not enough, we will be launching two, yes two limited editions in the coming months…here’s a sneaky peak at one of our brand new killer heels and watch this space for news on how we are supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer with your chance to purchase and own one of just 150 pairs of Mimi in Fuchsia pink! With money from these beauties going to a very very worthwhile charity.

To Heel or not to Heel…

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Whether you can wear them or not, we all love heels and few of us would actually confess to owning a pair of sensible shoes! The idea of strutting confidently down the high street in a pair of killer heels, laden down with shopping bags is a reality to very few, but dreamed about by many a girl. The reality being that we have to stop every five minutes to take off our shoes, re-adjust our poor feet and then stumble and stagger home, with no doubt the last 100 yards in bare feet!

Venetia 171Isabella 173Rachel Simpson Shoes is dedicated to giving you absolute comfort, whether you choose a killer or a kitten heel. Concealed platforms offers heels that look sky-high but with all day comfort whilst kitten heel points give elegance on a lower heel. Materials used in our vintage inspired bridal and occasion shoes include finest satin and leathers finished by a beautiful brocade sock with added padding for extra comfort. Matt leather soles also give a non slip finish.

Steal her Style – Kristen Stewart

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

What can we say about Kristen Stewart, relatively unknown until the trilogy ‘Twilight’ dropped in her lap! And what a difference a bit of adoration from fans and having a drop dead gorgeous man on your arm does for you eh!

We love having a nose through the pages of some of our favourites mags here at Rachel Simpson Shoes HQ and we came across this picture of Kristen (courtesy of Heat Magazine), having gone through a very foxy transformation.
Heat 16-7 - Kristen Stewart makeover

The perfect shoe to accompany this sexy gothic chick just has to be one of our uber new limited edition designs from Noir – launching this Autumn, three designs inspired by the decadence and promiscuity of a ‘dangerous liaison’ era.

NOIR- Sabine lowEach sky high platform shoe with killer heel is finished in a colourway of dramatic monochromes dashed with silver and red. A combination of contrasting fabrics set against an ivory satin for maximum stunning effect and finished with jet black lining and sock for a truly dramatic finish.

Sabine would be perfect for our friend Kristen, an effortless blend of ivory satin peep-toe with intricate black lace detail and stunning black piping contrast. Her skyscraper heels and exposed ivory satin platform, give her stature with grace. The subtle backpart detail and fine bound edge are united by ivory pearls set around the heel. Jet black lining and sock give a striking finish to this classic beauty.

A Place for Lace – Get the Look

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Lace – a thin line between sexy and doily, but here at Rachel Simpson Shoes, we love the new Lacy trend sweeping the fashion catwalks.

We love this montage of lacy numbers, courtesy of Elle Magazine, from the floaty to the frisky and everything else that gives a glimpse of underwear or underneath!

Our love of lace comes to you in the style of romantic Lilly, a gorgeous mix of satin and lace finished off with a side bow and available in black and ivory and from Camille, beautifully feminine yet temptingly promiscuous. Camille is a low cut shoe boot in ivory satin and delicate ivory lace, signed off with graceful ivory satin side bow. She’s like the forbidden fruit of shoe boots! CamilleLilly 152 lowLilly Black

So whether you are a hopeful romantic or a glamorous goth, this season’s must have fabric is sure to ‘frill’ ….sorry!

We love how many of you adore Roxy too, a big favourite in our Cocktail Collection and proof that you lot are not afraid to flaunt your feet in our kick-a** choice of colourways – Electric Blue and Hot Pink!
Roxy Hot Pink

Drew is big news at the moment and we spied her in Look Magazine this week too, looking divine in this 50s inspired frock. We reckon a pair of sumptuous Marilyn in Teal would give this look a real classic, retro feel and add that wow factor to this stunning summer outfit.

Greetings from Lucy Ledger Designs

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

If you’re a fan of Twitter, you can follow us @rachelshoes. If you follow us already, you’ll notice that we follow and regularly retweet about some of our favourite wedding companies currently doing their thing out there in Bridesville. A current favourite of ours; someone else that is a bit quirky and full of vintage inspiration is Lucy Ledger Designs, who design and sell greeting cards, prints and wedding stationery for the bride to be that wants something a little different and that reflects their personality. Since the launch of her business in March this year, Lucy Ledger has quickly become a name to watch out for, we found out why…Lucy Ledger Logo (2)

How did you get into the industry?
I have been a professional illustrator and graphic designer for 10 years after I graduated from Manchester with a BA Hons degree in Illustration. I decided to set up a stationery business after I got married last year and couldn’t find any stationery that reflected our personalities!

Country garden- INVITE-proofWhat’s your best seller?
I have two best sellers at the moment- the ‘Country Garden’ collection for the bride and Groom who wants something quintessentially English and the ‘Cool Britannia’ collection for couples who want to rock the British theme!

Which designer from your industry inspires you and why?
From an artists point of view I love Peter Blake and Tim Burton for their imagination and pure quirkiness- both where a huge inspiration to me through my university years. As for fellow Stationers; I like designers who stick to a unique personal style throughout their designs and branding- my absolute favourites at the moment are ‘Bunny Delicious’ and ‘Sugalily

Grass_RocknRollBride-268_blog lowTell us about someone you follow on Twitter that we should be following or an fashion-related blog that our fans should be reading and why
Kat from Rock n Roll Bride is great to follow on Twitter- She is an inspirational wedding blogger with original ideas but she doesn’t just tweet about the latest blog posts- her personality really shines through.

What are you looking forward to for the rest of the year?
Lots to look forward to this year! The wedding range is expanding with lots of new collections being added over the next couple of months, I will be introducing a high-end hand finished pocketfold collection later this summer, I will have a stand at the vintage wedding fayre in Harrogate in September and a fantastic promo photoshoot with Emma Case next month.

In your industry, tell us what you think is going to be hot next season
I have had a lot of recent interest in the ‘Divine Deco’ collection so I think vintage will still be big but with more of an emphasis on 20s and 30s glamour.

Describe your personal fashion style
Boho, girly and a little bit shabby chic!

What is your favourite pair of Rachel Simpson shoes?
ALL OF THEM!! I really love all of Rachel’s designs but if I had to pick one I would choose the Fleur design for being quirky but beautiful!Fleur 163 low

Pick a pair of Rachel Simpson Shoes and match it to something you sell, why this combination?
I would pick the Mimi in Lilac Satin to go with my ‘Country Garden’ range as they are classically English and so pretty just like this collection!Mimi 127 low

Winning Hands Down

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Or feet down in this case. Natalie Holyoake from Birmingham is the happy owner of a pair of Rachel Simpson Shoes, simply by entering a competition after visiting the National Wedding Show back in Spring this year.

Cocktail line up low resNewly-wed Natalie has her pick of any pair of shoes from the Rachel Simpson Cocktail Collection, the perfect show-stopping, vintage inspired party heels.

A very excited Natalie said, “What lovely shoes! I wish I had seen these when I was looking for my wedding! I am so happy to have won the competition, what a fantastic surprise! I can’t wait to wear my new Rachel Simpson shoes and show them off to my very jealous friends.”

Congratulations to Natalie on winning this competition and on her recent marriage to husband Jamie on 30th May 2010.

Steal Her Style

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

We’re starting a new feature on the Rachel Simpson Shoes blog, bringing you ideas on how to replicate the style of a celebrity fashionista, someone who catches our eye and whose style oozes with everything we love.

Grazia 28-6 Tea Dress Florence
We adore the eclectic tastes of Florence (a la Machine), seen here enjoying festival culture (images courtesy of Grazia magazine). Taking something that’s hot this season but making it very much her own with her flash of red hair and fabulously eccentric handbag!

Tea dresses are pure vintage and a style that’s so easy to wear, we would team up any of the pretty dresses here with a number of our shoes, which are all inspired by the vintage era of the 20s and 30s. But how about sitting down to afternoon tea, wearing Scarlet or Elsie, truly delicious!

Mixing in High Society

Monday, July 5th, 2010

We love to highlight fabulous boutiques and companies that provide simply gorgeous things for brides to be.

High Society Bride logoHighSocietyBride.co.uk is a website dedicated to designer accessories, from shoes (including yours truly) to jewellery and everything in between!

Read on to find out a little more about these fantastic people, we spoke to Awen Evans, co-owner and truly fabulous person…

Tell us a bit about your company
We opened High Society, a beautiful designer wedding dress shop in South Wales back in 2002, stocking the very best designer wedding dresses, and over the years have built up a stunning range of designer accessories. We soon realised that there are a lot of very busy brides in the UK, and around the world, looking for beautiful shoes, headpieces, tiaras, handbags and jewellery that can be bought online, but no really inspirational websites for top-quality, designer accessories. . So we created highsocietybride.co.uk to give the look and feel of a beautiful bridal boutique with the convenience of shopping from your office or from home!

Which designer from your industry inspires you and why?
We love Jenny Packham – she started her own label immediately after graduating, and has personally built it up to be a world-renowned design house, loved by celebrities, fashionistas and of course brides all over the world. Not content with her award winning dresses and bridal gowns, she launched her accessory range last year, which we have online – an amazing range of unique headpieces and bracelets that are honestly unlike anything else out there. You can spot a Jenny Packham a mile away! With even more designs coming in the autumn, we love Jenny for her glamour and personal style, as well as her commitment to quality and professionalism – a true inspiration.

Tell us about someone you follow on Twitter that we should be following, or an fashion-related blog that our fans should be reading and why
Our favourite bridal blogs and Tweeters are Rock my Wedding and Love my Dress, and of course the unforgettable Kat of RocknRoll Bride. Outside of bridal, Red Carpet Fashion Awards is the ultimate blog for celebrity style – if anyone who’s anyone has worn anything anywhere, it’s all here!

Denise Van Outen in Jenny PackhamCelebrity shoppers- who buys your product or who would you love to see wearing (or using) your product?
Cheryl Cole wore Acacia II by Jenny Packham on the X-Factor, and Jodi Albert wore it for her wedding, and Denise Van Outen wore Brooke by Jenny Packham for her wedding. We would love to see Kylie Minogue in some fabulous jewellery from Magpie Vintage, or some fabulous shoes – Hettie would look very cute on such dainty feet!

What are you looking forward to for the rest of the year?
We are just receiving our new Leigh-Anne McCague and Magpie Vintage accessories, which are fabulous! We loved the White Gallery in May, and are looking forward to all our new goodies arriving through the autumn. We are also going to the Autumn Fair in September to look for new accessories – it’s our first time at the Fair so it will be very exciting.

In your industry, tell us what you think is going to be hot next season
Vintage just keeps going from strength to strength, and we are seeing more 1920s – 1950s-specific inspiration – art deco styling, silver screen siren hair and make-up or cute Mary-Jane shoes and shorter dresses, alongside the more timeless ‘vintage’. Brides are definitely getting bolder in their accessories, choosing statement headpieces or jewellery for a real wow factor.

Lola Purple low resWhat is your favourite pair of Rachel Simpson shoes?
My personal favourite is Lola – in ivory or purple, this is a shoe to die for! The cute ribbon, sexy cut outs and overall vintage glamour make these very special and not something you’ll see duplicated all over the high street. And of course, being Rachel Simpson shoes, the comfort from the leather is first-class and the suede is oh-so tactile – if a shoe can be strokeable, these definitely are!

Mimi lifestyle 2 lowPick a pair of Rachel Simpson Shoes and match it to something you sell, why this combination?
We think Mimi looks beautiful for an art-deco look – perfect with Lucy Marshall’s Lilly headpiece, Emma Kate Francis’ Jolie 101 filigree pearl jewellery set, Harriet Wilde’s Pearl handbag and a pretty ivory lace parasol. The soft champagne trim on Mimi works perfectly with a vintage look and the pearls in the jewellery and handbag, and the forehead headpiece is perfect for that 1920s look. Think the Great Gatsby but with lashings of romance.

Describe Rachel Simpson Shoes in three words
Beautiful, unique, vintage

If Rachel Simpson Shoes is known for its vintage inspiration and simply beautiful shoes, what is your company synonymous with?
Highsocietybride.co.uk is synonymous with style, luxury and glamour – the very best bridal accessories in a beautiful virtual boutique for you to look through at your leisure and fall in love with when it arrives at your door!

Rachel PowellThis lovely lady is Rachel Powell, soon to become our namesake, Rachel Simpson, when she marries her fella this year. Rachel got in touch with us to say a big, big thank you for the delivery of her special day shoes – in this case – our girl Lola, in Purple suede.

We adore Lola’s vintage elegance and simplicity and you can see from Rachel’s beaming smile, she is well and truly smitten. Something tells us she will be wearing them a lot in the run up to and after the big day!Lola Purple low res
