Ladies at the Races & Vintage London

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Couple of lovely events to tell you about today, a bit late as last week I actually had a holiday! I know, apparently people do it all the time..!

Last Thursday week we popped along to the chic Piccolino restaurant in Birmingham’s Brindley Place, for their annual Ladies Day event. With champagne, big screen and delicious three course meal, quite frankly we wished we were visiting not working, but fun was had all the same. And the best bit was that £2,250 was raised for Birmingham Crisis Centre, which makes it all thoroughly worthwhile. You can read about the event here. Thanks to the gorgeous ladies from Molton Brown, Mobu Online and Sharper Millinery, for their lovely company.

Last Sunday we popped down to London, to Chiswick’s completely gorgeous Town Hall. Thoroughly in keeping, it offered the perfect host for such a delicious selection of vintage and vintage inspired suppliers. Bunting, cupcakes and beautiful gowns ruled the day, but what topped it off for me was the fab car I fell in love with. What do you reckon- does it match my new red Marilyns?

This Sunday we’re off to Stratford, for the fab vintage fair in Cox’s Yard. For more info pop over and have a peek at their Facebook page- we’d love to see you there!

Paris in the Spring

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

We’re back after a slight lull in blog land due to a somewhat busy time! First we launched the new collection at London’s prestigious White Gallery, (via Bridal Rogue Gallery‘s fabulous accessories party) then we nipped across the Channel to Paris Bridal Fair- phew! Reports on the former coming soon, but we just had to tell you about Paris..

After a hideously early start, a trip on Eurotunnel (anyone else been on this, weird experience but very efficient?), and a seven hour drive we made it to the Porte De Versailles for our debut show at Paris Bridal Fair. Set up was pretty slick, despite the lack of sleep, and we soon had our display up and ready.

After a relaxed evening spent supping vino blanc and eating the best home cut pomme frites sat in the evening sun on the streets of Paris (who said you can’t enjoy work!), the show opened on Sunday 11th June.

It was a quiet show but we saw a number of interested companies on our stand who I’m pleased to say really loved the collection, for being so unique. Whilst there were a number of shoe companies at the Fair, our mix of understated and elegance did seem to be different from the current market so hopefully we have a place en Paris! We’re thrilled to be welcoming new stockists on board from Belgium which is very exciting- watch this space!

After twelve hours at the show (yes really, 9am- 9pm!), we were more than ready for the drinks reception and awards ceremony which had been arranged by the organisers. This was really relaxed and I have to say we were made to feel so welcome by exhibitors and organisers alike. We even got chatting to Gerard Bedouk, the president of Nicaro- the organisers of the show and generally uber important company in French bridal!

I have to also mention our fantastic neighbours we were lucky enough to spend the show with. Imagine our surprise to be situated next to one of the only other English companies at the show- it was an absolute pleasure to get to know Michael and Barry of Michael’s Bridal Fabrics, who were great company, kept us amused during quieter moments and generally put up with us for two days! Thanks also to our fabulous French neighbours, who corrected our mediocre attempts at French speaking and shared their champagne with us on more than one occasion! We felt truly welcome.

The show was a fantastic experience, both professionally and personally and we’re looking forward to returning at the very first opportunity! xx
