British Bridal Exhibition Harrogate

Just back from the bridal industry’s biggest event, the British Bridal Exhibition Harrogate. At this prestigious event, hundreds of companies descend on the picture postcard town of Harrogate to launch (and buy) their new collections for 2012, which will hit boutiques across the UK and beyond early next year.

This year was our debut in the designer hall, and I was pleased to find myself opposite two fabulous designers, Claire Mischevani and Caroline Atelier. Claire’s signature style is so beautifully feminine and the soft blush and warm gold colours of the accessories are to die for. I particularly loved the evening dresses, which can be slipped on over your day dress to create a second look for the big day. Caroline’s Emmy dress had to be my favourite of the collection, showcasing her art of understatement perfectly. Although is was close between that and Sophia with it’s 20s Charleston look. As well as falling in love with their utterly delicious collections, Claire & Caroline also provided fantastic company during quieter moments, when we were able to sample the nearby champagne bar. Well all work and no play..! Just had to share a couple of pics with you.. gorgeous.

Also worth a look was The Designer Preview fashion show in the stunning theatre of Harrogate International Centre. An amazing preview showcasing 2012 collections from Lusan Mandongus, Charlotte Balbier, Augusta Jones and Madeleine Isaac James to name but a few. We have to say a hello to the lovely staff at Augusta Jones at this point, who were also very lovely (and very busy!) neighbours!

It was lovely to chat to lots of our stockists, as well as meeting a few new- coming soon to our stockist page! We also launched a few exciting new styles, especially for winter weddings and the forthcoming party season. These will be winging their way onto the website at the beginning of November, when you will also be able to pop into your local stockist for a peek. All we can say at the moment is that we think you’re gonna like them..;)

Thanks also to the fabulous Little A, who created the most beautiful floral display for our stand. We even managed to bring them home and enjoy the roses for a few more days!

Next on the list for show season is the National Wedding Show at Earls Court, 30th September- 2nd October. After that it’s the second Designer Vintage Bridal Show on the 8th & 9th October. We look forward to seeing you there..!

Dressing Room no frame

On Thursday 7th October from 5.30 -8.30pm The Dressing Room in Draycott will be launching their new accessories range with the inclusion of our vintage inspired shoe collection into their boutique  and to celebrate this new partnership they’ll be giving a way a pair of our gorgeous shoes in a free prize draw on the evening.

You’re sure to find something amongst the gorgeous glitzy pieces and fabulous flowers in their new accessory collections. You don’t have to be getting married to enjoy this evening, there will be wine and nibbles, so get a few friends together for a girl’s night out!

For the fashion forward bride, The Dressing Room is a vibrant, new boutique bringing you wedding dresses from the cream of British designers, including fabulous collections from Ritva Westenius, Charlotte Balbier, Augusta Jones and Sharon Bowen Couture.

Proprietors Justine and Elaina believe that choosing your wedding gown should be a memorable and enjoyable experience. Whilst the classic bridal silhouettes form the mainstay of their collections, they pride themselves in catering for the bride that wants a more individual look for their wedding day.

They share a passion for all things vintage so we were delighted to come on board with our shoes.  Justine said ‘Until now we just couldn’t get excited about bridal shoes so we decided not to carry them. Our brides have a strong sense of style and are looking for something a little different. When we found Rachel we knew that our bridal gowns and her shoes would be a match made in heaven and we’ve had a fantastic response to her collection.’

White Closet exterior
We’re super lucky to have some amazing stockists across the UK so we thought we’d share some with you! Quirky vintage-inspired bridal boutique The White Closet, in the heart of West Didsbury Manchester opened it’s doors in November and has been inundated ever since. Hardly surprising with a pot of tea, cupcakes and fantastic friendly service all on offer..

Nikki Jackson, a former journalist and creator of The White Closet was inspired to set up her fantastic boutique after she started to shop for her own wedding dress in the Manchester area and struggled to find something that she loved. The West Didsbury boutique, based in Manchester’s boho district, is aimed at arty and creative brides who are after something that little bit different. All the dresses chosen by The White Closet have a vintage edge to them, from a glamourous ’50s inspired dress (Lyn Ashworth) to a slinky Art Deco number (Claire Pettibone), covering most eras in between and beyond..
