In my shoes
So, January 26th 2016- approximately seven and a half years later than planned- I’m finally starting a blog. And here’s why..
I’ve spent said seven and a half (well, nearly eight to be precise) years building my business, from working alone at my dining room table drawing a few shoes, to a 5,000 sq ft HQ, double figure employees, exporting worldwide and a £1m turnover. (Ouch- writing that was uncharacteristically showy, but I guess it gives you a nice quick background setting at least. Although £1m in seven and a half years is hardly a Mark Zuckerberg success but we’ll come to that later).
People have been telling me I need to write a blog for years, and I’ve always liked the idea but never really known what ‘angle’ to take. Should it be a ‘behind the scenes’ with Rachel Simpson, should it be honest, carefully selected, real, filtered to within an inch of its life? Written by me, written for me, in third person, in first? Littered with key search terms for SEO purposes, or Hello style images of my life for Facebook (naturally, I always colour co-ordinate with my soft furnishings)?
Then last year happened, and my whole approach not just to the business but to life as a whole changed, and I had a realisation- just write. Show people behind the scenes, talk about what’s happening in the business, in your life, your head- just write.
And so it begins. An honest, non keyword driven, non BS little blog about my business and all that happens in and around it. I hope you enjoy it. And hey, if you don’t I guess at least the SEO people might be happy, if I talk about unique vintage style ivory leather wearable heel height wedding shoes enough..;)
Love & shoes,
